Empowering People with Disabilities: Skill Development for Sustainable Livelihoods

In many rural communities, people with disabilities (PWDs) face significant challenges, often being looked down upon and having limited opportunities to earn a livelihood. At Vikalp Foundation, we are dedicated to changing this narrative by empowering PWDs through targeted skill development programs that open doors to sustainable livelihoods within the local market.

Understanding the unique needs and potential of PWDs, we have launched a series of agro and non-agro based skill development initiatives designed to equip them with the tools and knowledge needed to succeed.

Our training programs cover a wide range of skills tailored to the local economy and the interests of participants, including:

Mobile Repairing Training:

Equipping PWDs with the technical skills to repair and maintain mobile devices, a vital service in rural areas.

Beautician Training:

Providing expertise in beauty and grooming services, enabling PWDs to run their own small businesses.

Readymade Garments Training:

Teaching sewing and garment-making skills for local markets and self-employment.

Computer Education Training:

Offering basic computer literacy and skills for the digital economy.

Two-Wheeler & Three-Wheeler Repairing Training:

Training PWDs in the maintenance and repair of vehicles, a crucial need in rural transportation.

SRI (System of Rice Intensification) Training:

Educating on improved rice farming techniques for higher yields.

Vermi Compost & Organic Farming:

Promoting sustainable farming practices that enhance soil health and produce organic crops.

Through these programs, Vikalp Foundation is not only providing PWDs with the skills to earn a livelihood but also fostering self-reliance and enhancing their role in the community. By empowering PWDs to participate actively in the local economy, we are helping them achieve a sense of dignity and purpose, while also contributing to the overall well-being and development of their families and villages.
